A humid and sweaty week has passed by and here's what happened:
- In SC Journeys, both 402 and 403 read Lesson 24 about 'Animal Friends.' In this story, a boy named Kai really wanted a dog for his birthday present but his parents gave him a cat instead because cats are easier to take care of. Though initially repulsed, Kai eventually started having affection for his new companion, Toby the cat. When his friend Miguel got sick, he even brought Toby to the hospital to comfort him. After finishing reading, quite a few students still debated that dogs are better than cats and honestly, I kind of agree 😤
- In Writing, we finished our last fictional narrative about waking up with a superpower. The students were very creative in writing about their superpowers such as telekinesis, teleportation, invisibility, mind reading, flying, super intelligence, cloning, the golden finger, and even the ability to turn others into slaves! Just remember, a good fictional narrative has a clear problem and climax (solution).
- In Grammar, we finished Unit 17 about the past simple tense. Some spelling rules for the past simple tense could be quite tricky. Though you could spend time to memorize these spelling rules, the best strategy is to read and saturate yourself with words, because that is the most practical way to learn!
- In Math, we learned how to multiply length, mass and volume in compound units and solve word problems. Most of them have already learned these concepts in Chinese class so it was mostly a review for them.
- In Science, we reviewed about soil and sound, since we've already finished the material for Unit 2.
And... that's it! I can't believe that exams are coming up in 2 weeks. Please click here for the Unit 2 exam scope and here's next week's printout:
Have a fantastic weekend!
Wendy
