Please do not think of this as another homework that you need to 'finish.' Try to have some fun with this homework. Pick 1 topic that interests you most and try to learn something. I look forward to seeing your masterpieces!

Let me know if you have any questions 😊

Week 20 Highlights

Dear beloved students and parents,

You did it! You've conquered another exam week. I cannot fully empathize with what all of you had to go through because I didn't have to learn 2 languages when I was in Fourth Grade. You guys are the real troopers. This week's highlights are short and sweet.

In Reading, we learned about the fastest rider in the west. Did you know that back in the 1800s, horses could travel 10 times faster than wagon trains? Anyways, many were confused of why we needed to start a new unit even though they've just completed their English exams. Our schedule for next semester is going to be quite tight so we need a head start! Remember, we must be proactive and put first things first!

In Science, we learned a little bit about flammable materials and fire safety. Did you know that nail polish and perfume are flammable?

In Writing, students wrote a 5 paragraph essay about their goals. They had to set 2 academic goals and 1 personal goal. A few students mentioned that they would like to skip (jump rope) and play more sports! I'm so happy to hear that students at this age already understand the importance of being active. Being active is the key to a healthy heart!

As for our English Assembly, I've chosen Henry Wang and Anna Jiang as our Brilliant Students. Not only did Henry do superb on his exams, he is also an active participant in class and contributes valuable insights into our class discussions. As for Anna, she always seems to be ahead of the game because she is proactive in reviewing class material before class. She is always ready to learn, contribute to class discussions, as well as help her classmates. You've both earned to be Brilliant Students, Henry and Anna! Keep up the excellence.

Well, that's a wrap for this week and this semester. This means that all of you will receive your report cards soon. Remember, grades don't mean everything. While it is important to strive for good grades, building meaningful relationships with friends and families is also crucial. School doesn't dictate your life. If you aren't satisfied with your grades, don't feel discouraged! Think of the bigger picture and always try your best. If you try your best, you shouldn't have any regrets. Alright, folks! Until next semester.. :)

Best,
Ms. Wendy

Week 19 Highlights

Howdy, everyone!

Happy New Years! It's officially 2020. Let's take a look at our first few highlights in 2020 😄 :

Fist, this week was review week so we didn't learn any material. There are two specific activities that we did for review together. First, we played Jeopardy together. While playing Jeopardy, I asked all students to take notes of class material they have forgotten. I would like to thank all students for being proactive and responsible learners. Second, we made flashcards together. Each students should have had a set of flashcards that they studied from. I hope that these review activities were helpful to all of you. Please let me know if you have any other fun and creative ways to study!

Second, our Lih-Jen Angel this week was Sarina. I've chosen her to be our Lih-Jen Angel because she is one of the students who has opened up the most this year. Even though she may seem a little shy or reserved at times, she strives to push out of her comfort zone. She is one of the most attentive students in class and tries her best to be an active participant. Thank you for your determination, Sarina! I'd also like to thank our wonderful speaker, Anne. Originally, Elaine and Anne were supposed to give the speech but Elaine didn't make it in time for the assembly so Anne had to improvise. Despite the unexpected circumstances, you were so brave and you did excellent, Anne! :)

Finally, here is our e-Printout for next week. From this point onward, I will no longer be handing out paper printouts. I will post the printout in my highlight blog posts every Friday, so please check my blog regularly.

I know that all of you have your Chinese Finals coming up so please study hard, eat well, and rest well! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy 2020!
Ms. Wendy
