Is it just me or does it really seem like the weeks are getting shorter and shorter? It's ironic because our Earth's rotation is actually slowing down each century due to tidal friction. Weird, right? Anyways, here's what happened this week:
- In Journeys, we read Lesson 28 about the Natural History Museum at Washington, D.C. I was excited to find out that 1 of my students (Bomin) from 403 actually visited this museum! We learned that most items from this Museum was bought from other Museums and that they expanded their dinosaur exhibit in order to show the dinosaur's vast habitat.
- In Writing, we expanded our essays about being a proactive student. I really have to say each student has matured significantly has young writers.
- In Grammar, we finished Unit 20 about the Future Tense 'going to.' This unit wasn't new for most students so we breezed through it. Please remember that we use the future tense 'going to' for 2 main purposes: 1) intention, and 2) prediction. However, the real challenge is to apply these grammar rules in real life. So, what are you going to do to improve your English proficiency?
- In math, we learned about symmetrical figures. If you're not sure whether an object is symmetrical or not, try to fold it in half and see if both halves match exactly. An object is symmetrical only if both halves are exactly identical. For this reason, the letter 'S' ISN'T symmetrical. If you still aren't sure, try to draw 'S' on a piece of paper and fold it in half.
- In Science, we learned about the rotation of the earth and moon. It takes Earth 24 hours to make 1 rotation and 365 days to make 1 revolution. As for the moon, it takes 28 days... which is where we get our months from!
And... yep! That's a wrap for this week. It's getting quite hot and humid and heat exhaustion is real so please make sure to hydrate!
Let's make the most of the last month of 4th Grade together!
Ms. Wendy
